Founded by NASM and RKC Certified Strength & Conditioning Coach Ryan Jacobs, Ascent offers personalized fitness and movement training in the greater Manhattan area as well the Hudson Valley. We believe each of our clients are unique individuals who require personalized attention and programming. Specializing in functional movement training, mobility, and performance, Ascent is here to help you climb your mountain.

What is Functional Fitness?

At it's core, Functional Fitness utilizes strength training to prime and ready the body for safer, stronger and more efficient daily and athletic activity.

At Ascent, our focus is on strengthening and then progressing through the 7 primary movement patterns: Push, Pull, Bend (Squat), Lunge, Hinge, Rotation and Locomotion. We do this through simple, compound movements (movements that work multiple muscle groups at once) that maximize your results.
